08.08.2021 was the day I lost faith in all things imaginable. A day filled with rage and vengeance. All I could think about was a good divorce lawyer to help me salvage the love that had gone wrong. But instead, one day, I developed a ‘Frozen Heart.’
A year ago today, I was boarding a flight alone, leaving behind my three kids I had given all of who I was to. But, oh, a wife who had decided commitment to marriage vows does not reside within her campus.
I was being packed away with my tail tucked between my legs, tears cascading down my cheeks. I could feel the production system of my tears kicking in, with the tear glands above my eyes going into overdrive. The tears drain into my tear ducts via the small holes in the inner corners of my eyes. When these ducts were so full and could not keep up with production, the tears decided to bypass the ducts and find their way out down through my nose.
How do I know the production was in overdrive mode? Well, the poor Uber driver did not know how to respond to this mess of a passenger who suddenly decided to assemble a swimming pool in his vehicle.
Should there be a need for a divorce lawyer?
As a family, we had decided to move to Qatar to plenish the bank balance. But things would turn sour just over a year in. Things are still fresh and need a lot of untangling, so I will reframe from attributing blame to anyone.
I have always insisted that there are two sides to every story, so I will leave the whole story for a future blog post. But let’s put it this way, I would bet my life on me winning my case in a court of law.
Then again, am I sure about this? The legal system still rewards women with kids when they do wrong. Fathers 4 Justice would not dress up in costume to conduct stunts and protests to gain public and parliamentary support for changes in UK legislation on fathers’ rights if this was not the case.
The person I had known since my early 20s, for the best part of 21 years, would decide to get a divorce behind my back, using the loophole of international law and her VIP contacts in Qatar. To my amazement, this act handed her the kids till they were all 13 years of age was legal.
When I got over the initial shock after finding out, I spoke with a good law firm in the UK, and they informed me that I had a good case, but it would cost me an arm and a leg to win this. I would need lawyers in the UK and Qatar.
The master stroke from my ex, knowing I had no money to do this, intelligent lady, the smartness that I fell in love with, would come to undo me, sucker!!!
I had been played as if a wife had discovered her husband was a murderer or a paedophile. This is what I call marriage treason; I had been handled as if I had committed a crime of attacking our marriage to which I owe allegiance. This cause of action she took was enough to set into action server depression, which I cannot explain to this day.
Healing has not been easy, and this day reminds me of all that has transpired. Before my divorce, I had always been flabbergasted as to why those separating could not do things for the good of the kids or themselves. However, having experienced my own soap, I can now understand how quickly reasonably individuals go to battle when a marriage terminates and a good divorce lawyer is needed.
When going through a divorce, knowing your rights and what you stand to lose or win is essential. The worst thing that could happen is signing an unfair agreement because you didn’t have a good lawyer there to help you. Unfortunately, with all the stress surrounding the end of your marriage, it can be easy to fall into this trap.
I am not being negative with this post, just wanted to highlight how important it is to have a good divorce lawyer. If you are lucky enough to have resources available for hiring legal representation (unlike me), here are some reasons why having a great divorce lawyer by your side is worth every penny.
A breakup is a harrowing experience no matter what the circumstances are
However, you and your spouse got to this point; it’s a difficult time. A breakup is a harrowing experience, no matter what the circumstances are. Even if you’re the one who initiated the breakup, if you’re being wronged by your partner, or if you’re being abused by them, these kinds of breakups are never easy to get through.
Everyone has their own way of coping with divorce and other life transitions: some people start dating again right away (there is a story here for a future post); others go back to school; still others retreat from society altogether (as I have done) and focus on self-care until they feel ready for another relationship (or possibly never).
Everyone must find their own way through hardship because no one has all the answers about how best to heal after emotional trauma—but there is one thing we can all agree on: having legal representation during this time will make things easier on both yourself and your family.
The right divorce lawyer can ensure you don’t get bullied into accepting an unfair agreement
A good lawyer will not only help you avoid making huge mistakes, but they can also negotiate a fair settlement with the other side. According to all marriages over the past 50+ years between 1964 and 2019, the divorce rate in England and Wales is 33.3%.
The divorce rate increases or decreases depending on a couple’s marriage years. The reason for 46.5% of divorces in 2019 was unreasonable behaviour on the part of the spouses.
A 2-year separation with consent is the second most common reason for divorce. Regardless of the situation, we can assume that the ratio is rising. Therefore, it is also necessary for you to have a good divorce lawyer. With the help of a competent divorce lawyer, you can solve disputes between you and your spouse much more quickly and smoothly than if you weren’t represented by one.
The right lawyer can ensure that your rights are protected and won’t allow you to be bullied into accepting an unfair agreement. They’ll understand the law, your rights, and the other side’s motivations and goals.
A good divorce lawyer is worth their weight in gold to ensure that your interests are protected during negotiations with your spouse’s attorney or mediator.
If your ex-partner is abusive, the right lawyer can help keep you safe and away from them
If you are in an abusive relationship, the right lawyer can help keep you safe and away from your ex-partner. Don’t be afraid to seek help from a professional. If you have kids with your ex-partner, don’t be afraid to ask for help from a family member or friend.
A divorce lawyer might be able to help you improve your chances of getting primary or shared custody
Custody arrangements can be complicated and challenging to navigate, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the process. First, you’ll need to decide whether you want sole or shared custody. Then, if you want shared custody, you’ll need to agree on a custody schedule that works for both of your schedules.
If your ex-spouse has shown poor parenting skills, they may get primary (or sole) custody of the children in the divorce case; however, a judge will likely make this decision after hearing all the evidence presented by both parties.
They’ll help ensure that your rights are respected and upheld
When you hire a good divorce lawyer, you’ll know your rights are respected and upheld. They will ensure that you are treated fairly and not taken advantage of by abusive people. Your divorce lawyer can also help ensure the safety of your children if there is any threat to them during the divorce proceedings.
It’s important to remember that having a good divorce lawyer doesn’t mean they will be able to turn back time or make things better than they were before. Instead, they can only help ensure that things go as smoothly as possible. Hence, everyone involved has an easier time moving forward after this challenging experience has ended.
They can make sure you’re not taken advantage of by abusive people in your life
A good divorce lawyer will help you get a restraining order against abusive people in your life.
They can also help you get custody of your children, ensure that the other parent pays child support or alimony, and ensure that everyone gets fair custody arrangements.
They’ll give you peace of mind and help keep you calm during a stressful time
Divorce is a stressful time, and having a good divorce lawyer by your side can help keep you grounded and allow you to make the best decisions for yourself and your family.
A good divorce lawyer will be able to guide you through the process of getting divorced in a way that makes sense for your situation.
They’ll work with you to determine what course of action is best for both parties, whether mediation or litigation. A good divorce lawyer will also ensure that all terms are fair for each party involved in the divorce so that no one is left feeling short-changed or taken advantage of by their ex-spouse.
It’s crucial to find a divorce lawyer who practices explicitly in family law
You need to find a divorce lawyer who has experience in family law. A reasonable family law attorney will be able to help you with any questions you have about your case, and they’ll also be able to address any issues that arise during it.
Family law is a specialised area of law, so your lawyer must have experience practising in this field. If not, then there’s a chance that he or she might not know how to handle certain situations—such as whether or not your spouse is allowed custody rights if he or she has been convicted of domestic violence against you—and without these answers, the outcome of your case could end up being unfavourable.
Suppose you have a lot at stake financially or emotionally. In that case, it might be worth hiring a good divorce lawyer to stand up for yourself
Suppose you have a lot at stake financially or emotionally. In that case, it might be worth hiring a good divorce lawyer to stand up for yourself. Divorce is never easy, but having suitable legal representation can make the process go more smoothly and help protect your interests.
To ensure that your divorce lawyer is experienced in family law and divorce cases, search for attorneys who have experience representing clients with your specific issues. There are several things to look out for when evaluating an attorney’s qualifications:
- Does the attorney have experience with similar cases?
- How long has the attorney been practising?
- How often does he or she appear in court as part of their practice? In other words, how much experience does this person really have?
Conclusion
Suppose you’re considering a divorce and have a lot at stake financially or emotionally. In that case, it might be worth hiring a good divorce lawyer to stand up for yourself. A professional will help ensure you don’t get bullied into accepting an unfair agreement and keep your rights safe from others who might try to use them against you.
They’ll also ensure that your ex-partner doesn’t take advantage of their legal knowledge or experience when negotiating custody issues (or anything else). Finally, they can provide peace of mind during a highly stressful time in life, which is why I recommend getting one now before it becomes too late!
In the end, the family lose out, and the divorce lawyer always wins!
